Streams? What are streams?

Well, in my case, business streams. As a photographer, I recently had to have a long hard look at what I wanted to do and figure out how to pursue this as a job.

I have always been a passionate music photographer and always loved shooting gigs and band portraits. However, on the face of it, it is really not possible to make a living of it and frankly, I can’t run on freebies anymore. I understand the predicament most bands are in. They are all cash strapped like most creatives and this is what we have in common, what all creatives have in common. Things are not like they used to be so the focus (no pun intended) needs to shift a little.

For me, that means identifying other streams of revenue to try and tap into but at the same time not lose track of what I love and what my long term goals are.

My streams going forward will be following:

  1. Weddings and events.
  2. Pets
  3. Personal work

I think this is a good way of splitting my time up as a photographer and market myself in that way.

You may wonder what Personal Work has to do with all of that. Well, I would still like to share my personal work with you and this is mainly street photography or landscapes for that matter. This WordPress blog will be my main vehicle for my personal work as this also gives me the opportunity to maybe say a few words in tandem with the images I am going to present.

Instagram and my website (which is currently offline due to rebuilding work) will be my main hubs for weddings and events.

I am honest, I don’t know yet what to do with Twitter and Facebook so if you have any suggestions, these would be highly appreciated!

This is all for now.

I’ll be back soon with another post of Imagine the Week this coming Friday. Stay tuned!
